Thomas & King, Inc., headquartered in Lexington KY, is the 8th largest restaurant franchisee in the nation.  We operate 95 Applebee’s and Carino’s restaurants in Kentucky, Ohio and Arizona.  We are looking for a Benefits Coordinator for our salaried benefits program to be based in the Lexington Home Office. Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Administer the 401(k) and Non-qualified Plans including:
    • Enrolling new participants in the 401(k) plan.
    • Assisting employees with any questions regarding the 401(k) plan.
    • Reconciling bi-weekly contributions, verifying company match calculation and making adjusting as necessary.
    • Prepare exports to 401(k) provider and initiate all transfer of funds to the provider.
  • Administer COBRA benefits, ensuring compliance with federal regulations.
    • Distribute insurance enrollment packets to all eligible employees.
    • Process insurance enrollments in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Support employees by interfacing with insurance providers in the resolution of benefits related issues and inquiries.
    • Coordinate open enrollment materials and process insurances changes as necessary.
    • Maintain payment records and reconcile invoices in a timely manner.
    • Performance payroll maintenance each pay period.
    • Accurately and timely prepare accounting insurance report.
    • Provide recommendations in the development and implementation of an on-going benefits strategy.
    • Identify trends in benefit usage and possible benefit design options to those trends.
    • Coordinate administration of the performance review process.
    • Manage all aspects of personnel files, ensuring the integrity and security of the information.
    • Cross train on hourly benefits administration and serve as back-up as needed.
    • Must maintain strict confidentiality of employee benefit matters.

Job Skills (include but are not limited to):

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and individually
  • Proven problem solving skills.
  • Accurately processing of invoices and payments.
  • Ability to analyze trends, costs and benefits usage and recommend possible actions in response.
  • Well organized.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and adjust work performance to changing priorities.
  • Project planning and execution.
  • Prior benefits experience preferred.
  • Prior experience with UltiPro or similar system preferred.

  • Position may require occasional travel.
